Elements of Urbanism is a book which showcases a selection of 17 essays from KTH’s (Royal University of Technology, Stockholm) School of Architecture and the Built Environment.
The final product is hard-bound in a grey book-cloth and fits nicely in the hand. Early in discussions we had discussed creating an object that felt like a ‘tome’ and this is what it turned out to be. A book ribbon was added as a further touch to help readers retain their place.
The 17 essays form part of the distinctive abstract shape made of 17 ‘parts’ arranged around concentric circles. To help identify the start of a new essay each one is preceded by a page which contains the shape with one ‘part’ highlighted.
